What to Expect

The Clinic has been treating patients for over 40 years with thousands of people placing their trust in us each year. We pride ourselves on being able to offer a personalised service. We have a team of friendly nurses and expert surgeons who understand the importance of this decision and will support you throughout your journey with us.

A consultation is the best place to start when considering any type of aesthetic treatment.

A dermal filler consultation is held in person at a clinic local to you.

A thorough discussion will take place with one of our doctors, nurses or surgeons who will take the time to analyse your skin, go through your medical history, listen to your concerns and discuss your desired results. They will then share the best treatment options for you and your facial anatomy, and ensure that you understand what you realistically can acheive from dermal filler treatment.

After your consultation you should feel confident and well about the recommended treatment/s, the recovery, likely outcomes and the predicted costs with no obligation to book.

You will be given some time to think about your treatment before deciding to book a procedure date should you wish to go ahead.

Dermal Fillers, made from Hyaluronic Acid, are the most popular volume enhancing treatments. They are commonly used to restore plumpness and volume to the area being treated, define the shape of the face and to reduce facial lines, and hollowing.

Dermal filler treatment can producing safe, long-lasting and natural looking results. It is a safe and effective cosmetic and aesthetic when administered by a qualified and experienced practitioner.

Many dermal fillers on the market are substandard in terms of ingredients and quality. The Private Clinic uses only the highest quality brand of temporary fillers, including Teoxane and Juvederm which are for their superior standards. You will only be treated by and certified doctors and nurses to inject fillers.

Before your dermal filler appointment, we recommend that you avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours, avoid taking any medication that includes NSAIDs, aspirin, vitamin E, and ginseng for 1 week. We also recommend that you avoid wearing heavy makeup to your appointment.

What happens during a dermal filler procedure?

On the day of your dermal filler treatment, your practitioner will go over the planned treatment and ensure that you are still happy to proceed. You will be given the choice of local anesthetic which can help alleviate any needle fears.

Small amounts of dermal filler are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. Sometimes a cannula may be used.

The filler gel helps to plump up the skin, thereby smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

When lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller appearance.

Our policy is ‘less is more’ so we will always aim to give you a natural, subtle look.

Types of Dermal Filler Treatment that we offer

Immediately following your dermal filler you may experience some redness, bruising, swelling, or tenderness. This is a normal reaction and is a result of the injections, it will disappear within a few days. Swelling after dermal filler treatment can last for up to 7 days.

Bruising after dermal filler is often associated with poor but this is not always the case. Bruising is very common after the use of a needle or cannula. Your own predisposition to bleeding will determine how much bruising you should expect to see following treatment.

To help patients avoid bruising we advise that any medications containing NSAIDs, aspirin, E, and ginseng are avoided in the week before dermal filler treatment. We also advise that these medications are also not used in the week following treatment.

It is also best to avoid:

Arnica cream can be used following treatment to help soothe and calm the skin.

It is best not to have Dermal Filler treatment at least 2 weeks before an important event, party, or occasion in case of any side effects.

All dermal filler are offered a review appointment 2 weeks following their treatment date. Our expert aesthetic nurses or doctors will examine the treated area, and together, you’ll be able to discuss the final results. This includes deciding you’d like any adjustments to the existing filler placement to be made or further volume which may require additional dermal filler treatment.
